This month there is an exciting opportunity to participate in the 2016 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count. By volunteering a few hours of your time, you can be part of creating a sustainable change for our homeless neighbors in Los Angeles County.
2016 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count Schedule:
About the count…
Every year the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) organizes volunteers to count homeless men, women and children in LA County. This is an important event as it determines what funding each city will receive from the federal government for homeless services, and ultimately moves homeless families and individuals into housing. Approximately 6,000 volunteers are needed to conduct a successful Count.
How to get involved…
Consider joining in counting our homeless neighbors on one of the three Homeless Count nights. The Count will take place on the nights of January 26‐28, 2016. Volunteers will meet‐up at deployment centers in communities across the Greater Los Angeles area to receive training and then go out in teams by car and on foot, to visually count the number of homeless persons living in a specified area. Click on the links above and sign up to support a deployment site in your area.
