While Hope for LA’s main mission and focus is to mobilize people to serve local organizations and meet community needs consistently throughout the year, our campaigns offer a special opportunity to galvanize volunteers and resources to make an impact on a larger issue in our city.
Here are the main campaign initiatives:
- Boxes of Love gives people an opportunity to fill a box or two with a Thanksgiving meal for a family in need in our city. These boxes go to trusted ministries and are delivered by caring Christians. The goal of Boxes of Love is not only to meet a hunger need but to connect these families with ministries in their area that have ongoing physical, spiritual and relational resources available. You can find out more here.
- invisible(s) is a focused effort in partnership with Pacific Crossroads Church toward orphans in our city. LA has the largest foster care system in the country, representing 35,000 kids. You can find out more here.
- Homeless Kits are a great way to reach out to our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness. In 2016, we partnered with Pacific Crossroads Church to pack 10,000 homeless kits filled with socks, fresh cereal bars, hygiene items, a list of resources throughout the city for housing, food or other help, a summary of the gospel and information about church services and a small gift to make the kit memorable. Individuals then distributed the kits across the city as they came in contact with those experiencing homelessness. If you’re interested in making your own kits, click here for a printable resource guide.
Volunteers are always needed for planning and leading these events. If you are interested in attending or being involved in organizing please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
